The do you know club

Kaspar and Toby

An attempt to cut up to five corners.

Together with American artist Steven Beatty the ‘Do you know’ club has been formed (also known as the ‘So, do you know’ club), and welcomes further members to join this time consuming, at times costly but potentially rewarding activity.

While traveling away from ‘home’ the conversation sometimes goes a bit like this:

Where are you from?
I’m from England
Oh, so do you know Jonathan Peacock?

Of course I don’t know Jonathan Peacock, or at least the chances of this would be very very small indeed, but as a member of the ‘Do you know’ club I am obliged to go and meet this person at the next possible opportunity. This meeting will be documented and posted online. My first obligation was to visit Tobias in Stuttgart, a friend of Steves. We know one another now!

At present it is not foreseen that members can ‘do you know’ one another. This might lead to impossible and fabricated missions. Maybe this is a good thing.

The do-you-know-club are: Kaspar Wimberley, Steven Beatty, Kai Niggemann, Martin Herold, Isabelle Gatterburg, Ineke Wolters, Nicki Liszta, Dimitra Kolokouri, Natascha Moschini, Sandra Sitron, Efremova Ekaterina

We welcome new members!

About

Susanne Kudielka and Kaspar Wimberley work internationally as interventionists and performance researchers specialising in site-specific and site-responsive art, alternative strategies for audience interaction and new forms of artistic collaboration.

The artistic process usually begins with a given site, and a process of observation and dialogue that analyses, and eventually responds, to the architectural, socio-political, geographical, mythological, connotative and historical narratives that can be found there.

Projects are quietly subversive, playfully readjusting the narrative and appreciation of a particular activity or a given site. The working process often involves those that live in an area, and aims to be accessible and relevant.
